As mentioned, this news comes hot on the heels of Activision's announcement last month that Black Ops 4 would have a Battle Royale mode.

Though it wasn't detailed too much, it was revealed that a battle royale mode will make its way to Battlefield V sometime after launch. Footage of the new mode was then teased in the latest game trailer, which debuted online shortly after the presentation. EA revealed at that time that players will not be able to gain extra advantage by paying for premium features on an official post on the "Battlefield V" website from Senior Development Director Ryan McArthur.

Battlefield titles are unlike many other first-person shooters however, with its trademark destructibility, vehicles and gunplay, plus regular multiplayer already supports up to 64 players. It's easy to see how this new gameplay quirk could factor into a Battlefield Royale mode. The game will also have classic modes including Conquest and Grand Operations, which will recreate real historical battles that will play out over multiple maps and modes.

The conference started with a quick look at the Battlefield 5 multiplayer, described by EA/DICE as "the deepest and most immersive" one in the series. There's no word on the number of players EA's twist will support. As everyone probably predicted, yes, it will be getting a battle royale mode as well.
