A sunken duck tourist boat that led to the deaths of 17 people faced near-hurricane-like conditions on Table Rock Lake Thursday.
The National Transportation Safety Board and multiple duck boat companies, including Ride The Ducks of Seattle, declined to comment. I don't know who they were.
Stone County Sheriff Doug Rader previously confirmed to that media outlet that the captain was among those who survived the accident. "Help me get to my babies", adding, "Lord, if I can't make it, there's no use keeping me here".
Among those who were hospitalized was Tia Coleman, whose husband, three children and five other relatives died.
A crane from a southwest Missouri salvage operation has already been brought to a staging area near the site where the duck boat went down, close by the Showboat Branson Belle.
"I thought I was dead", she said, speaking to reporters at Cox Medical Center Branson, where she's been recovering from her injuries. She is one of two in her family to have survived.
"I just can't imagine trying to deal with nine people in your family". After they stopped for a picture, she said, a ticket taker realized they should have boarded at a different location and reassigned them.
"When that water came over the boat I didn't know what happened", Coleman, of IN, said at a press conference at a hospital on Saturday.

Coleman said the crew told passengers they were going into the water first, before the land-based part of their tour, because of the incoming storm.
