Google's focus towards India was reiterated in its yearly event, Google for India 2018, earlier today.

Additionally, the most commonly spoken Indian languages will be supported by Google Go's new feature for listening to webpages, as well, including Hindi, Bengali, Malayalam, Marathi, and Tamil.

In the coming weeks, Google Pay is also looking to bolster its partnerships with big Indian offline retailers including the likes of Big Bazaar, e-Zone, and FBB.

In another India first launch, Google introduced a campaign planning tool inside Google Ads that allows advertisers to plan reach-based video campaigns at national level with sub geo targeting across 36 sub regions and 6 top Metros.

Now supports Marathi, with seven more Indian languages coming soon.

Tez alone handed $30 billion in transaction value, facilitating over 750 million transactions.

Voice search has grown by 270% year-over-year in India.

Google Go's reading capability uses natural language processing and speech synthesis artificial intelligence to identify which important portions of a web page to read out loud. They're also building something called the "merchant experience" so that businesses can find more customers through Google Maps and customised notifications.

The company has also partnered with RedBus to offer better public transport information on Maps.

Google has also announced the next round of its free Wi-Fi project in India.
