A woman who has accused Donald Trump's Supreme Court nominee of sexual assault has told an historic committee hearing in Washington DC that she believed he would rape her.

The allegations come from Julie Swetnick, who attended Gaithersburg High School in Maryland. "I'm hear for civic duty to tell you what happened between me and Brett Kavanaugh in high school", Dr. Ford began.

George Hartmann, a spokesman for Republicans on the Judiciary Committee, said the hearing is still going forward Thursday as scheduled.

Swetnick called Kavanaugh's claims of innocence "absolutely false and a lie" and said he consistently showed this inappropriate sexual behavior throughout her time knowing him.

Kavanaugh has vehemently denied all allegations against him.

Swetnick said, in the document given to the Senate committee, she "witnessed efforts by Mark Judge, Brett Kavanaugh and others to "target" particular girls so they could be taken advantage of; it was usually a girl that was especially vulnerable because she was alone at the party or shy". "That kind of depends upon what happens tomorrow", Grassley said.

"I do not know how I will assess the credibility of these witnesses - these human beings - on the grave matters that will be testified to, because I have not yet heard a word of their testimony", he said.

Trump's Supreme Court nominee Kavanaugh rejects 'false accusations'
She admits she was drunk. "Once the New Yorker piece came out ... that spurred Republicans to say we demand a vote on Kavanaugh". But McConnell, of Kentucky, indicated that he believes that nothing that happens on Thursday will keep Kavanaugh from the court.

Sarri wants the playmaker back for the Liverpool game
But he can't take too long to mull over the result as Chelsea have two huge clashes with Liverpool coming up this week. Dejan Lovren "looks ready" and Dominic Solanke could also find himself involved as part of a front three rotation.

Ford was seated at a table in the packed hearing room flanked by her lawyers, facing a bank of senators.

"I was not ideal in those days, just as I am not flawless today", Kavanaugh will state.

In one of the affidavits, family friend Keith Koegler said he wrote to Ms Ford in a June 29 email, "I remember you telling me about him, but I don't remember his name, do you mind telling me so I can read about him?"

"They go into the back room and talk to each other and laugh at what they're getting away with", Trump said. No one has yet had an opportunity to delve further into Swetnick and her statement.

"Such grotesque and obvious character assassination - if allowed to succeed - will dissuade competent and good people of all political persuasions from serving our country", Kavanaugh, Trump's second high court nominee, said in a statement released ahead of Thursday's planned Senate Judiciary Committee hearing. She says, among others, that Kavanaugh and Judge were present when she was gang raped.

"I lament how this hearing has come about", he added, noting that Dr Ford's allegations emerged only after Mr Kavanaugh's original confirmation hearing earlier this month was over. In fact, President Donald Trump himself intervened in the whole situation claiming that Ford should have launched her accusations before. But ever since she came out into the open with her claims, things have not been very favorable for her. "And I believe that's why they should take the time necessary to fully contemplate that".

Grassley also blamed the committee's ranking Democrat, Dianne Feinstein, for not revealing accusations she recieved from from Christine Blasey Ford in July. That means that a handful of moderate Republican senators who have not announced whether or not they support Kavanaugh could determine his fate. Both Kavanaugh and Ford attended high school in Montgomery County, although they attended private schools. Another woman, Deborah Ramirez, told The New Yorker magazine that Kavanaugh caused her to touch his penis at a party when both were Yale freshmen. The release includes a day-by-day view of the committee's investigative work over the last two weeks since allegations surfaced targeting Kavanaugh.
