The Denver Broncos have parted ways with one of its most prolific wide receivers in franchise history, shipping Demaryius Thomas to the Houston Texans ahead of Tuesday's National Football League trade deadline.
In exchange for the contract-year wideout, Denver received a fourth-round pick and will swap their seventh-rounder for Houston's.
"Demaryius had an incredible run here and we can't thank him enough for everything he's meant to the Broncos", general manager John Elway said in a statement.
One of the primary reasons that Denver was willing to trade Thomas, who has been with the organization since being drafted in 2010, is because it opens the door for more playing time for Courtland Sutton.
