Another story surrounding the race for the governor's house in Georgia was the announcement on Sunday that Kemp's office has opened an investigation into the Democratic Party after an alleged attempt to hack the state's voter registration system.

She encouraged black and female voters to go to the polls, telling them that "for anybody here who has ancestor who didn't have right to vote. you are dishonoring your family".

Abrams, an African-American woman, has accused Kemp of intentionally purging voters to target minorities. "I am not trying to test any water, don't want to go in those waters". Abrams would be the first black female governor in USA history.

Two days before election day, Kemp is locked in a fiercely-contested race with Democratic candidate, Stacey Abrams.

Winfrey explained that in her canvassing, she already talked to people who have voted early and plan on volunteering for Abrams.

Numerous applications were flagged for failing to pass the state's "exact match" verification process, which requires that identification information on voter registration applications precisely match information already on file. "I think that's what you are hearing from Oprah".

The Georgia Democratic Party said in a statement Sunday that the "scurrilous claims are 100 percent false" and called the investigation "another example of abuse of power" by Kemp. "Are you voting for her?"

President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence have travelled to the state to campaign for Kemp, while former President Barack Obama, along with celebrities Oprah Winfrey and Will Ferrell, are among those who have campaigned for Abrams. "Come on, Oprah! It's dehumanizing, it's completely baseless, it's totally cruel and again I say, you're much better than that and you're much bigger than that".

A spokeswoman for Abrams lumped Kemp in with President Trump, suggesting the president created the climate for the racist calls to air. "I'm not testing the waters".

Pence said Abrams' campaign is being "bankrolled by Hollywood liberals", but that despite the major support from the entertainment industry, voters will choose a governor who genuinely wants to put the needs of the state and the values of its citizens first. "This is the South. People have been really wonderful and really optimistic about Stacey Abrams". Winfrey continued, despite the woman's surprise.

The Republican Party has held Georgia's governor position since 2003.
