Winter storm, blizzard conditions to hit Chicago on Sunday

Strong winds and snow are expected to create blizzard conditions across much of Nebraska and parts of Kansas on Sunday. By Monday morning, the storm was expected to hit parts of northern IN and southern MI.

Another late fall storm will move across Colorado from late Friday through early very Sunday morning.

A snowstorm is expected to hit Sunday, possibly bringing several inches of snow before Monday morning, according to the National Weather Service.

Even though numerous weather models have come into agreement on many terms, there is still a good amount of uncertainty when it comes to snow totals from this system. Heavier snow is expected in some areas, especially near the Kansas-Nebraska border.

The warning calling for 4 inches to as much as a foot of heavy wet snow. But once we get to Sunday, it will be parts of the Upper Midwest and Great Lakes that get blanketed by up to a foot of snow.

Stephenson, Carroll, Jo Daviess, and Whiteside counties are also under a Winter Storm Warning from 3 a.m. Sunday to 12 a.m. midnight Monday. Wind gusts through the evening will be 25-30mph.

"It's going to be messy", said Todd Kluber, a meteorologist for the National Weather Service who is based in suburban Chicago. Winds will be strong from the north-northeast at 20 to 25 miles per hour and wind gusts up near 40 miles per hour. Light snow was also predicted for Tuesday. Snow should gradually diminish/end from the west later Sunday night and Monday morning.

"Two-day record snowfall in November ranges from 8.9 inches in 1975 to 11.2 inches in 2015", he said.
