Trump tells Mexico to ship migrants home or see border permanently closed

The migrants' arrival has been met by some opposition from people in Tijuana, where many shelters were already at capacity, and on the US side of the border by increased security measures that include members of the military deployed there by President Donald Trump.

Migrants were asked by police to turn back toward Mexico.

Needless to say, it's an intense scene.

The San Ysidro crossing is a large complex with multiple lanes of vehicle and pedestrian access points.

Milenio TV showed images of migrants climbing over fences and peeling back metal sheeting in an attempt to enter the US.

President Trump tweeted on Saturday that migrants wouldn't be allowed into the U.S.

Meanwhile, Republican Senator Lindsey Graham of SC, took to Twitter to accuse critics of having to "really hate President Donald Trump to not understand the problems created by the caravans". If they agreed to the "Remain in Mexico" policy, those caravan members - and nearly certainly many thousands more who are on their way to the US - would have to be cared for in Mexico while they await the outcome of their asylum requests.

Mexico's Interior Ministry said Sunday the country has sent 11,000 Central Americans back to their countries of origin since October 19, when the first caravan entered the country. News slowly spread as the Thanksgiving holiday weekend wrapped up and millions were traveling back home, but by Monday morning countless Americans expressed outrage.
