Authorities say a man fired into a auto with a mother and four girls inside, striking and killing a 7-year-old girl on Sunday morning.
The 7-year-old girl's mother was also struck in the arm and taken to the hospital. He says three other girls ages 15 and younger were also in the vehicle at the time. Sheriff Razo told reporters that the two other sisters in the vehicle were unharmed but "shaken" from the attack. "They are shaken. Devastated", Razo said of the girls who survived the shooting. The suspect, who authorities are describing as a white male in his 40s, fled the scene in a red truck.
He was driving a red pickup truck.
Harris County sheriff Ed Gonzalez identified the 7-year-old girl as Jazmine Barnes and the injured mother as 30-year-old LaPorsha Washington.
Jazmine's father, Christopher Cevilla, who appeared with Gonzalez at Monday's news briefing, pleaded with the public to provide relevant tips to authorities so that an arrest can be made.
