Janice Freeman -who was a favourite contestant on 2017's The Voice in the USA - died suddenly on Saturday (Sunday AEDT).

According to reports, Janice was at her home in Pasadena, California on Saturday afternoon with her husband, Dion, when she began to complain that she was having trouble breathing. She had also battled lupus and cervical cancer, as well as meningitis, in the past.

"Freeman only made it to 11th place in her Voice season, despite wowing with passionate covers of Rose Royce's 'I'm Goin" Down'" and Leela James's "Fall for You.' Her elimination is still considered one of the most shocking in the history of the show in the USA.

Despite the fact, her time on The Voice eventually came to an end, Freeman and Miley Cyrus continued their friendship.
