With a whole month until the final season, hardcore fans are speculating on the fate of the characters in what some have deemed the best television series ever.

HBO on Tuesday dropped the first, full trailer for the highly anticipated eighth and final season of their fantasy drama, Game of Thrones. And it's pretty awesome.

It's the fateful battle between fire and ice - between the living and the dead - that has Thrones fans giddy with anticipation to see what HBO has in store for them, and while expectations are now through the roof (and understandably so), programming chief Casey Bloys has assured us many times already that season 8 will deliver the goods and then some.

Fans of Game of Thrones took to Twitter to discuss the trailer. Saying that things look exciting seems like an understatement given how the show will wrap up an eight-season-long series with merely six episodes.

"I promised to fight for the living", says Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau). There's her sis, Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) having a geez at Daenerys Targaryen's (Emilia Clarke) dragons as they flap over Winterfell. "I look forward to seeing this one", she says, menacingly.

Winter is truly coming ... fair to say, it's nearly here. The clip is accompanied by a voiceover of Arya saying "I know death". Another major takeaway which is the talk of the town is how Jon Snow may ride one of the dragons.

The new footage also sees a panicked Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) running for her life.

The teaser hints at an epic battle and an action packed season 8 even though the number of episodes have been shortened to 6.

A very confident-looking Cersei is then seen at a heavily guarded King's Landing, flanked by her Hand Qyburn, while the giant menacing figure of The Mountain Who Rides looms silently behind.
