"The Galaxy A Series provides a range of models so everyone can choose a device that fits their unique needs", said DJ Koh, President and CEO of Samsung Mobile Communications.

It might not be Samsung's flagship smartphone, but the Galaxy A80 is certainly a device we're looking forward to trying out properly. The headline A80 features an nearly bezel-less display with a rotating rear camera that can also be used for selfies, while the A70 sports a boring-by-comparison waterdrop notch.

Samsung Galaxy M30 has a 6.4-inch full-HD+ Super AMOLED display panel. Samsung has applied the same concept to the new Galaxy A20e which is a smaller version of the Galaxy A20.

Samsung has gradually been shrinking the size of the bezels around its screens throughout the past year, starting with the thinner borders on the Galaxy S9, followed by the hole-pinch Infinity-O design on the Galaxy A8s and Galaxy S10 range.

Samsung is all set to launch a bunch of smartphones today under a freshly updated A series lineup.

Since the Galaxy A80's main novelty feature is the pop-up camera mechanics, the module houses a triple lens camera.

With regard to the star attraction of this smartphone, the auto-rotating camera and slider design, Samsung says it was inspired by the "Era of Live" an evolution from the "Era of the Selfie". Backed by 8GB of RAM, the Galaxy A80 comes with 128GB of internal storage.

It is expected to be powered by a 3,700 mAh battery that will support 25W fast charging. The phone ditches a 3.5 mm headset jack and instead uses a Type-C USB port. For cameras, it's got a 32MP main, 5MP depth, and 8MP ultra wide on the back, plus a 32MP selfie cam. The device is also noticeably heavy even for a 6.7 inch device and is noticeably heavier than the Galaxy A70 which sports a similar but notched 6.7 inch display and a larger 4500 mAh battery. Samsung's OneUi and Android Pie will power this device, so you get the best of both Samsung and Google.

Previous slider designs from Chinese handset vendors featured standalone rear and front cameras.

The Galaxy A80 is available in three colour finishes: Angel Gold, Ghost White and Phantom Black.

Conclusion: The galaxy A80 seems to deliver on the promise of innovation but will likely face tough competition from other major players in the mid premium segment that tend to price their offerings more aggressively.
