The reports say there were 78 people aboard the plane.
The aircraft's black boxes were found and handed over to investigators, a source in the Russian emergency services told news agencies.
Reports have emerged that the death toll may have risen due to passengers wasting time by grabbing their carry-on luggage before evacuating the plane, preventing others from getting to safety.
Flames were seen flaring from the rear of the Russian-built aircraft.
