Google launches Nest Hub Max with larger screen, video chat

The gadget is the company's second smart display device, following on from last year's Google Home Hub. Here are five things you should know about each of them (these lists are not exhaustive, so if you're interested in further information, check out Google's blog series). That's about to change.

Showing it a palm when watching video or playing music or the radio pauses the content without having to touch the screen or talk to Google Assistant. This is like a modified Do Not Disturb, where you can mute specific apps while keeping others active - whatever it takes to help you focus. It can now perform real time translation tasks simply by pointing the camera at any text of any language supported.

What might also be appealing to some people is that camera data never leaves the device, meaning you don't have to worry about it being a surveillance machine.
