Golden State Takes 2nd NBA Title In 3 Years

Draymond Green’s mother, Mary Babers-Green, laid into the referees on Twitter throughout Game 4 of the 2017 NBA Finals, even going as far as to claim that they were “officially paid”.

There are now two days for those messages to be absorbed, and for the Warriors to re-establish their superiority, even if it won’t be a historical wonderment any more. They quite literally changed the tech from Draymond to Kerr, but only after (stupidly) assessing a tech to Draymond on a meaningless, harmless play.

With 6:18 left in the third quarter and the Cavs holding a 14-point lead, Draymond Green was whistled for a very dumb foul when he needlessly contested a perimeter pass to Kevin Love early in the shot clock.

Draymond Green already didn’t have many friends in Cleveland heading into Game Four of the NBA Finals on Friday night. Let’s see what’s about to happen.

The Golden State Warriors celebrate with the Larry O’Brien NBA Championship Trophy after winning the NBA Finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers in game five of the NBA Finals basketball game at Oracle Arena in Oakland, Calif., June 12, 2017.

Durant drove left, right and down the middle, knocked down 3-pointers, dished and dunked. David West fought for the ball with Irving, then they got tangled up and Tristan Thompson entered the fray and he and West went at each other face-to-face. Back-to-back MVP Steph Curry ended his Finals in fine form, too, bouncing back from a bad Game 4 to add 34 points, 10 assists and six rebounds. West, Thompson and J.R. Smith received techs after a replay review. Remember, Green was suspended for one game for a late-game altercation with LeBron James in Game 4 of the 2016 NBA Finals.

Curry shot 10 of 20, converted 12 of his 15 free throw attempts, found time for six rebounds and completed a double-double with a game-high 10 assists. “If KD was the consolation prize to lose, thanks for that loss, and we’re champs this year”.

“I’m just happy for him”.

“Last year is last year, this year is this year”, Kerr echoed.

Completing a flawless 9-0 run at home during the postseason, the Warriors became the first San Francisco Bay Area team to win a championship at home since the Oakland Athletics won the 1974 World Series.

A year ago, these Warriors fell short after a record-setting season that included a 24-0 start and 73 victories at the end to break the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls’ wins mark.

Golden State completed an unprecedented 16-1 run through the National Basketball Association playoffs, registering the second-best average playoff point differential (plus-13.5) in league history. “This was the culmination of a year where (Durant and Curry) grew together and learned each other’s games and got better and better all year”.
