Shah Rukh Khan’s journey to stardom can serve as an inspiration for aspiring actors but the superstar does not believe that his life story can be made into a film as it is “not that controversial”. “We have made an office in Goregaon, specially for the film”.
Directed by Kabir Khan and starring Salman Khan, this duo has given us blockbusters like Ek Tha Tiger (2012) and Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015), both of which were the highest grossers of their respective years but can the same be predicted for Tubelight? This highly-anticipated film hasn’t yet crossed Rs. 30 crore mark on any single day. The untitled project will also feature Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif in pivotal roles. The film has released across 4400 screens in India and 300 in the U.S., but has not fared as well as it was expected to. Not just his films and controversies, Salman has always been making headlines for his equation with female partners and if, at all, he is getting married or not. The film failed to smashed collection records at the box office. It’s also good theatrical run at the overseas box office. When those expectations came crashing down, no one really wanted to go anymore. While the “Salman Khan films” generally open with housefull shows, “Tubelight” saw only 35 to 70 percent occupancy.
Tubelight was released on this Friday (June 23) on 4350 screens in the country and 1200 screens overseas. “The producers are safe with the pre-release deals, but the widest released Hindi film of all time has certainly not matched up to commercial expectations”.
When asked if there is a sense of failure, Salman said, “What! I have earned a lot for myself, respect, work, it is a long time”, said SRK. SS Rajamouli’s film has left audience in awe the world over. They just want to publish that marriage thingy.
Khan – never far from controversy – enjoys a cult-like status in star-obsessed India, particularly among young men who regularly stand outside his house in Mumbai hoping to catch a glimpse of the superstar. Let’s try to switch on this Tubelight now.
