In a statement, police said that three Palestinians armed with knives and semi-automatic weapons were shot dead after carrying out two separate attacks near Jerusalem’s Old City.
Palestinian terror group Hamas has rejected the Islamic State’s claim on an attack which killed an Israeli police officer Friday.
At one location, two Palestinians were shot dead after opening fire at a group of Israeli police officers.
Israeli authorities also denied ISIS involvement. “3 Arab terrorists shot by police units that responded at the scene”.
According to Israeli daily Yedioth Ahronoth, two Palestinians opened fire on a group of border police stationed on East Jerusalem’s Sultan Suleiman Street, while a third Palestinian stabbed a 22-year-old border policewoman near the Old City’s Damascus Gate.
“Let the Jews watch for the demise of their state at the hands of the soldiers of the Caliphate”, the statement said.
Hamas and the People’s Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) said on Friday that the three attackers were members of there groups, Reuters reported.
Earlier, the Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack.
Jerusalem police chief Yoram Halevy identified the three attackers as Palestinians from the West Bank.
The Shin Bet said they had been previously been implicated in “terror activity”.
Furthermore, Israeli forces raided, searched and damaged the contents of dozens of houses belonging to relatives of the attackers and confiscated permits they had to Israel.
The second attack reportedly happened outside the tourist landmark Zedekiah’s Cave several dozen yards away, with the stabber swinging wildly at passersby. “One officer and one civilian were moderately and lightly wounded”.

Israel had eased restrictions on the entry of Palestinians to Jerusalem and Israel from the West Bank for Ramadan.
“I have instructed the police to reinforce security arrangements and checking procedures in the plaza around Damascus Gate”, Netanyahu said at a weekly cabinet meeting, explaining that he was consdiering making the zone a “sterile area”.

Aida Touma-Suleiman, a Palestinian citizen of Israel and member of the Knesset’s Joint List, told Mondoweiss that she considered the revocations a form of “collective punishment” and said she planned to introduce a suggestion to have a “special discussion on the issue”.
