Israel shrinks Palestinian fishing zone in Gaza

The buffer zone prevents drug smuggling and infiltration of criminals from Egypt, and sends the message that Hamas is committed to ensuring full border security, Abu Naim stressed.

Israel and Hamas have fought three wars since the Islamic militant group took control of Gaza a decade ago, most recently in 2014.

He said it was “too early to assess whether this plan will be fully implemented” as Hamas movement, which rules Gaza could reject Dahlan, who used to head PA’s security services in Gaza. Typically, electricity is available to Gazans for only about 4 hours per day.

This is in accordance with the new understandings reached in recent meetings between Hamas leaders and top ranking officials within the Egyptian intelligence community.

He has since fallen out with Abbas and lives in exile in the UAE, where he is considered a potential successor to the 82-year-old Palestinian president.

According to Hamas, the new measure is meant to pressure the group to release two Israeli citizens held in Gaza and the bodies of fallen IDF soldiers Oron Shaul and Hadar Goldin.

Abu Hamda said other babies have been diagnosed with deadly symptoms and risk to die at any possible moment if they do not receive urgent treatment somewhere outside of Gaza’s underequipped hospitals.
