Monreal claims Bellerin will ‘almost certainly’ stay at Arsenal

The Spanish giants still hope to lure Bellerin back to the Nou Camp, where he was part of the youth setup until joining Arsenal as a 16-year-old, and local media have claimed that the full-back has even agreed personal terms with Barcelona.

Arsenal are already facing doubts over the futures of star names Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil, so could do without a fight over Bellerin as well at this stage.

Monreal though, who signed a new contract with the club last November, has backed the Spain Under-21 global to stay.

And Monreal is confident the north London club can keep hold of his Spanish compatriot this summer.

“Everybody wants to win the big prizes, if Hector Bellerin stays at Arsenal, then I’m pretty certain I can stick my neck out and say next season I don’t see Arsenal winning the Premier League and I certainly can’t see them getting any further in the Champions League, because they’re not in it!”

“Now they will have to negotiate between the clubs and we will see what happen but nearly for sure he will continue with us”.

Bellerin recently refused to rule out a potential return to Barcelona, but insisted he is happy at the Emirates.

“There certainly isn’t an very bad lot of loyalty left in football and from a personal point of view, for me, he has to go”.

“I have spoken to Bellerin but it is not an easy situation because Arsenal trusted in him since he was a boy”, Suarez told TV3. I haven’t talked to the club.

“I have a tougher time now because I’m a family person, I depend on them a lot, and it’ll be a new challenge to be without them”.
