More stray showers today as temperatures stay cooler than normal

Temperatures will be mild, in the 70s, under mostly cloudy skies. High temps return to the 70s for most and around 80 in the Springfield metro area.

As the surface high moves to our east Thursday, our winds will become more southerly.

One more comfy night of sleeping Wednesday night is followed by humidity coming back Thursday and really sticking Thursday night. Southerly winds will keep shore locations cooler, as temperatures will be held in the lower 80s. These showers should not last too long, but you should be aware they are going to be in the forecast much of this week. High temperatures will reach the lower and middle 80s and dew points will rise into the 60s.

Friday: Sunshine, mixing with afternoon clouds, hot and humid, with the chance for a late day thunderstorm. Sun will give way to increasing clouds, and some showers and thunderstorms will be possible, especially late afternoon and at night. Highs range from the upper 80s to the lower 90s.

It will be a pleasant start to the day, but temperatures and humidity will begin to increase.

Scattered downpours and storms this evening will give way to clearing overnight. While hail looks like the biggest threat, it goes without saying that heavy rain and lightning are also likely in any thunderstorm. AS of now, there are timing differences on the modeling. It will still be a very warm day, with highs in the middle to upper 80s.

Wednesday will be mainly dry for most areas and warm.
