(And even if this is a bit of cinematic retcon after the fact, I’m fine with it, too.) While you’re waiting for Spider-Man: Homecoming to hit theaters on July 7th, now’s the ideal time to revisit Iron Man 2 to see the pint-sized Parker in action. Among those details that he has revealed includes the idea that Peter Parker has been a part of the MCU since Iron Man 2, according to a recent interview with Tom Holland, who plays the character in the upcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming.
But while most fan theories turn out to be little more than fan fiction, this one’s actually true.
Even before Spider-Man: Homecoming has hit theaters, we are already getting rumors about its sequel.
Feige pointed out that the first Spider-Man movie in the MCU saw Peter Parker trying to ease back into his normal life following his bout with the Avengers. Tom Holland has just confirmed it.
Naturally, the studio head refused to give specifics-or actively pantomime the scene where Howard the Duck’s body get’s ripped in half by a super-charged Thanos-but many speculate that the most likely characters to be killed off are either Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man or Chris Evans’ Captain America. “Everyone came together and decided if we can put Spider-Man back in the MCU, which he always was a part of in the comics, everybody wins – and the biggest victor is the fans, as they finally get to see what they’ve been waiting a long time to see”.
However, some comments by Pascal last weekend in front of Feige during an interview seemed to state they would be part of the MCU after all, which were followed by comments of Tom Holland mentioning he would love to work with Tom Hardy, who was cast as Venom. “You might keep an eye out”, he said.
One difference this time is that instead of teaming up with Iron Man, THR reports that there will be a different Marvel Studios hero accompanying Peter on his adventures. Then Amy Pascal said, “Hell yeah they are!” .
He shared: “I think actors tend to be drawn toward, not necessarily villainous, but [yeah] probably villainous characters”. Screenplay by Jonathan Goldstein & John Francis Daley and Jon Watts & Christopher Ford and Chris McKenna & Erik Sommers, Screen Story by Jonathan Goldstein & John Francis Daley, Based on the Marvel Comic Book by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. The Untitled fourth Avengers films is out May 3, 2019 and Phase Four of the MCU kicks off with Spider-Man Homecoming 2 (for lack of a better title) on July 5, 2019.
