Trump Confirms He’s Under Investigation, Blames Unnamed Person

President Donald Trump made a surprising comment about the possible investigation into obstruction of justice for firing former FBI Director James Comey.

The Washington Post this week reported, not only that the president is under investigation for possible obstruction of justice, but also that the FBI inquiry is examining the business and financial dealings of the president’s son-in-law Jared Kushner.

But Rosenstein is not now heading the FBI’s probe into the Trump campaign’s possible collusion with a Russian campaign that US intelligence officials have said was seeking to tilt the outcome of the 2016 election in Trump’s favor.

“The FBI leak of information regarding the president is outrageous, inexcusable and illegal”, said Mark Corallo, Kasowitz’s spokesman.

The president did not directly address allegations that he is being probed for possibly obstructing justice – a potentially impeachable offense. Terming Comey’s allegations untrue, Trump later said he was willing to testify under oath but Mueller’s reported investigation into the president’s actions means that Trump will have to live with the ghost of another probe reaching to the White House.

But Mr Comey also testified that to his knowledge the president had not tried to stop the Russian Federation investigation. The Post said investigators had requested interviews with CIA Director, Dan Coats, National Security Agency chief Michael Rogers and Richard Ledgett, the former NSA deputy director.

As Mueller assembles his investigative team, statements by Trump’s friend Christopher Ruddy this week set off new questions.

In response to the statement, former US Attorney Preet Bharara, whom Trump fired in March, tweeted early Friday morning that “Americans should also exercise caution before accepting as true lies about firing of Federal Bureau of Investigation director & defamation of a war hero special counsel“, references to criticisms Trump has levied against Mueller and James Comey.

Trump has disputed both claims, saying flatly that he never asked Comey to drop the Flynn probe. It is one thing for him to dispute the explanations by his own administration team and surrogates.

“They made up a phony collusion with the Russians story, found zero proof, so now they go for obstruction of justice on the phony story”.

Late Thursday, reports surfaced Vice President Mike Pence hired a lawyer to assist him through probes into whether there were ties between Trump’s election campaign and Russian Federation.

“I think he’s weighing that option”, he said of Trump.

While Mr Rosenstein appointed Mr Mueller as a special counsel to oversee the investigation, it is possible that he could be called as a witness as part of the investigation.
