Two SA police officers in ‘very critical condition’ in shooting near downtown

According to the San Antonio Police Department, an officer-involved shooting near San Antonio College has left two officers in “very critical” condition.

“I am asking all Texans to join me in praying for the wounded San Antonio police officers”. He said the two allegedly opened fire when the officers got out of their vehicle. The second officer was shot in the lower jaw or upper chest region and Chief McManus said that officer is in serious condition but is expected to survive.

One of the officers was listed in grave condition and other listed in critical condition at San Antonio Military Medical Center, police officials said.

One assailant was taken into custody immediately, while the other fled to Evergreen Street and Howard Street before being shot. As of Thursday evening, McManus said police have no information as to “why the guy would have opened up on the officers”. “Our law enforcement officers are true Texas heroes and deserve our prayers and support now and always”, Attorney General Ken Paxton said.

Campus was put on lockdown 3:40-4:20 p.m. McManus said that the community is not in any further danger because both suspects had been captured.
