The mood at the Capitol remained somber Thursday, as members learned more about Scalise’s condition and signed giant “get well” posters for him and others injured.

Among those was House Majority Whip Steve Scalise of Louisiana, who remains hospitalized after undergoing several surgeries after being shot in the hip. According to the hospital, he sustained a single shot to his left hip, with the bullet traveling across his pelvis causing bone fractures, internal organ injury and severe bleeding.
“By playing tonight you are showing the world that we will not be immidatefd by threats, acts of violence, or assaults on our democracy”, Trump said in a statement. “We wanted to show our support especially for Congressman Scalise and everybody”.
For the game, which began in 1909, members of the Senate and House of Representatives donned uniforms representing teams from their constituencies, and many topped them with hats from Louisiana State University, Scalise’s alma mater, as a tribute.

Sava said Scalise has a good possibility of recovery after he was at “imminent risk of death” from the gunshot wound two days ago.
Rep. Cedric Richmond, the Democrats’ star player, said he planned to stop by the hospital to check on Scalise before heading to the stadium.
Federal authorities are investigating Hodgkinson’s motives, including examining social media posts that included anti-Trump and anti-Republican sentiments.
“And let’s keep the Warmbier family and the Scalise family and all of the victims of the congressional shooting in our hearts and prayers”, Trump continued. “He remains in critical condition but has improved in the last 24 hours”, the hospital said in a statement.
And as lawmakers discussed increasing security, House Speaker Paul Ryan urged them to come together following in the incident.
They said that his “risk of death” has substantially lowered than when he arrived at the hospital. The offices of both senators – Dick Durbin and Tammy Duckworth – turned over the emails to Capitol Police and declined to offer specifics about their content.
Shannon Davis, who was on her way to work, said she received a frantic phone call from her husband.
Capitol Police officer David Bailey, who chased down the gunman despite being wounded himself, hobbled out to the pitcher’s mound on crutches to throw out the ceremonial first pitch of the game.
